Seattle Teen Encourages People to “Don’t Give Up” on Debut CD

Seattle, March 20, 2009 -- Seventeen-year-old Amy Helmuth thinks big. So when the young singer first heard “Don’t Give Up,” she saw it not just as a catchy pop tune, but as a message to people struggling through our country’s current economic crisis.
“I hope the song puts a smile on people’s faces,” said Helmuth, who recorded the song by Dalona Foster and Chelsi Lee Marie for her debut, four-single CD, “Don’t Give Up.”
When Helmuth first heard the song in the recording studio, she couldn’t help but smile. “The beat made me bounce in my seat,” she said. Helmuth knows that no song can make up for losing a job or home, or both, but she hopes its message will give people a sense of hope—or at least help them forget their troubles for a while.
At just five feet tall, Helmuth hardly looks like someone who could take on such a big challenge. What this petite high school junior lacks in height, though, she makes up for in spunk. “I’m a little person, but I don’t let anybody push me around,” she said.
A student at Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Helmuth has been active in musical theater since second grade. She has performed in numerous productions with Broadway Bound Children’s Theater. She wrote her first song, “You’re Near,” in 2007 after losing several loved ones within months of each other.

Amy is a young, talented, and inspirational artist emerging from the Seattle area whose demo began attracting attention within weeks of its release! Attending Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Amy is now dreaming of attending college in New York and getting degrees in performing arts and graphic design. She keeps herself busy not only with music and theater, but also volunteering at the “Ruby Room” (an agency that provides formals gowns to girls who are unable to purchase their own). Amy has been continuously active in theater and music since she was a little girl and maintains these theatrical talents to this day while expanding into professional singing as well. In elementary school, Amy was in her first play and got the role of “talking tree” and ever since that moment she knew that performing arts and music would be her calling. She has been in multiple plays at a wide range of venues over the past years acting and singing in several very well known productions including Broadway Bound’s “The Wizard of Oz” featured as Dorothy, and "High School Musical" where she was featured as Gabriella. Amy was also recently a featured singer in her high school cast of “Cats”.
Though she is only 17 and does not yet have her first full length album, Amy is more than well on her way. “You're Near”, a very moving tune off her new 4 song demo, received airplay in Seattle shortly after its release in late 2008. The song was also the featured song on The Memorial Music Library Homepage at www.memorialmusiclibrary.com for several months in 2008. “Rendezvous,” an up tempo and flirty love song was recently featured on the Ron and Don Show “Make or Rake the Band”. Recently, Amy even scored high enough through Everett’s “Aquasox Idol” to sing the national anthem at an upcoming Sox game this 2009 season. It seems the opportunities just keep coming and this vivacious artist grabs hold to each one!
Amy performed her first official concert of her own original music for a packed out house at the infamous Brick in Roslyn, WA and left the crowd wanting more! Amy is in the process of building a professional band with her producer/manger in Seattle and is also heading back to the studio to record again this summer. Her upbeat personality and quirky sense of humor make her easy to be around and easy for audiences to relate to. Amy is now in search of her own record label and with the contagious vibe her demo presents it seems a likely outcome. Her song “Don’t Give Up” is an inspirational masterpiece in these tough economic times and will also be her motto as she pursues what will likely become a very “mainstream” career in the music industry and theater business.
