ID required for school visits

Dear HPISD Parents,

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority in HPISD. Thanks to funding provided by the 2008 bond issue, we are making security enhancements on every HPISD campus.

In February, we are introducing a system that requires all visitors and volunteers to wear badges while they are on campus.

Since HPISD welcomes the many volunteers and visitors who are an integral and valued part of our campus life, we want to be sure the phase-in goes smoothly. Below are questions and answers for those visiting our campuses.

Q: What are the general procedures for visitors?

A: When the visitor arrives, he/she will be greeted and asked for photo identification.
  • A state-issued driver's license is the preferred ID. For those visitors who do not have a driver's license, we will also accept a government-issued photo ID such as a state ID card or green card.
  • The ID will be run through the Raptor system, which HPISD recently purchased for each campus in order to screen for registered sex offenders. The system will compare the name of the visitor to a national sex offender database, which only takes a few seconds. Once the visitor is cleared, he/she will be issued a badge.
  • The visitor will be expected to check out at the front office when leaving the campus. read more
