ID Lanyards

Lanyards are Neck Cords that are worn around the neck. Lanyards come in many different widths, styles, and with assorted attachments. The most common lanyards are made of a nylon/polyester blend and are either round or flat. The popular widths for wearing your ID card are 3/8" or 3/4" Neck Cords.

Some Neck Cords have a built in safety feature and are called "Breakaway Lanyards." Breakaway Lanyards slip over the head. If the ID lanyard gets caught in machinery it has a plastic piece that "breaks" the lanyard so that you can remove it from your neck without having to pull it over your head. Once you use the feature you can always re-connect the breakaway parts and re-use the lanyard. The Breakaway feature is only for safety and should not be used on a daily basis for removing the lanyard.

Some ID Lanyards have something called a Quick Disconnect Buckle. This Buckle is located at the end of the lanyard and usually has a swivel hook, bulldog clip or key ring attached to it. Quick Disconnect Buckles allow you to remove your ID card by releasing the buckle. When you are ready to put your ID Card back on the lanyard, you insert the buckle to the plastic piece on the lanyard. This feature makes removing your ID badge easy, because you don't have to take the lanyard off in order to remove the badge.

We carry all styles and attachments for lanyards, if you have any questions we would be happy to help!
